Latest News

Welcome to my latest News in 2011.

As well as keeping you up to date with any changes and latest news this section has also been designed to provide you with a 'snapshot' of the further support I give each of my clients through my private website and workshops.

Latest newsletters are found below:

October 2011 Newsletter

I have been blown away by the teleseminars on parenting this month. I believe our future is directly linked with how much time and energy we put into the children and youth of today.  What struck me personally with these calls is that of course we have all received some kind of parenting, most of us a mixture of good and not so good. I also happen to believe that we chose our parents, for the experiences they would give us. I try to remind myself of that for those times when my own parenting skills seem woefully poor – My daughter chose me for good and bad!

There was a ton of really useful information from a range of parenting ‘experts’ most of whom seemed genuinely humble and inspired to help both children and parents.
Here are some highlights I scribbled down (not word perfect)

Hal Runkel: “ We are responsible to our children NOT responsible for their behaviour”
“If you are calm and present you become a calming presence”

Marie Diamond;” When children sleep their aura is like a sponge that absorbs energy which is why it helps to keep the area around their bed tidy and positive”

Mark Victor Hansen was so inspiring I bought his book on self-made rich kids – which is actually very spiritual and inspiring. His theme was we need to make children self -sufficient, self- confident and self –reliant. Great info that we can all learn from.

Shelly Lefkoe “ (As a parent) If I do this thing – what will my child conclude?”
“If you don’t fail a lot you will be mediocre” “To be perfect takes your joy out of experiencing life”

Lisa Nichols “Be the best parent you can be NOW. There will always be new information and a new approach – it is constantly on-going”. “Best gift you can give yourself is to give yourself another chance to do it all again better”.

I have much more scribbled down but I hope these inspire you as much as they did me!

Of course it’s not enough to just read these inspiring words – as with all aspects of life we have to put them into practice.

I don’t very often write about my Morrell Reflex Touch treatments – mostly because they really do have to be experienced to be appreciated! But this month I have felt so grateful that I can offer this wonderful healing gift to my clients. So often I mention that we need to take action, to make changes for our lives to improve.

But what about those times when we just don’t have those reserves, strength and courage to take action? This is when reflex treatments can really make a huge difference. Recently I have encouraged some of you to experience more frequent but shorter Reflex treatments – my 30 minutes for £13 deal. At the time I HOPED it would prove helpful.
But I have been really quite humbled by the power of healing energy. Just about everyone who has had the frequent short treatments has made huge improvements. The improvements have been across the board – health improved, emotions improved, the energy fields really started to ‘sing’ and many of you seemed to feel able to access those deep reserves of will power, optimism and strengths to become empowered on your healing journey.
If you have been struggling of late – why not contact me to discuss this slightly different approach?

I am always so inspired by your personal stories and the challenges you each overcome. You are all more than you ever believe!

I have also had wonderful feedback on the weekly email support that regular clients receive and I am sure this has also helped with the great results. I have about another 4-5 weeks of support and recipes I have planned on our challenge to tame our Sugar, Cravings and Candida issues.
This week I have started a simple fun challenge – and each of you that respond will receive a special encouragement ‘gift’.

The kitchen is so important to natural healing – so I have found some more inspiring hints and tips that I will share in the weekly newsletters. However here is one I will share now.
Prolong the Life of Greens
You can do the following to help your greens last longer:
a) Stand your greens upright in your fridge (stem side down) so that they are not lying flat in water / moisture, this will help keep their leaves from getting slimy
b) Take off the metal and or twist ties once you get your greens home from the market, they will be so much happier and last longer.
c) If you are able to wash, dry and bag your greens before putting them into the fridge…great. For many of us, though, it is not feasible to do this. So, at the very least, try to keep one or two heads of greens washed and ready for use at any given time so healthy eats are always ready to plate

Spiritual Support Group
Lastly for those that are interested;
I have had a lot of interest from many of you about wanting to talk, learn and share more about your spiritual path.
While this is not essential for your healing and not for everyone I do know that some of you find my work triggers a deep spiritual response in you.
So, I have re-started the Spiritual Support Group and it will start again on Monday evening 7.15pm on November 21st at EVENLEY village hall. There is a cost of £5.
If you are interested and want to be kept informed please contact me.

Facebook
I have started a business Facebook page – a first for me and something I know very little about. I am doing this as a way for my energy and work to reach those that might have a need for my own individual brand of work – so that they may find me.
Thank you for those of you who have so kindly ‘liked’ me – I really appreciate this and will trial this method for a month or so. I will be sharing health related simple tips.
Again I know Facebook is not for everyone but I am trying to move with the times!
Resources
I want to share the new uploaded site for www.thescentofsoap.com  Noemi is a fellow mum at my school and I just love her natural hand-made soaps. I added these to my updated colds and flu workshop. The natural ingredients and essential oils are not only good for our hands but really very effective against bacteria and bugs. Not to mention that they smell wonderful!

I hope you have found this newsletter interesting and informative,
As always I am here to provide support and healing in your own healing journey, Joxxx

20.10.11

I have been sharing with my regular clients the importance of having enough protein in the diet – sometimes hard for women. One food I am adding more often is eggs. They are high in both protein and the elusive vitamin D – needed for our immune system. Still not convinced? Have  a read of this;

Eggs are a great source of protein, vitamins, minerals, and healthy fats.
• One egg contains 6 grams of high-quality protein and all 9 essential amino acids.
• Due to the carotenoid content, specifically lutein and zeaxanthin, eggs are great for the eyes.
• They are a good source of choline. One egg yolk has about 300 micrograms of choline. Choline is an important nutrient that helps regulate the brain, nervous system, and cardiovascular system.
• Contrary to previous belief, moderate consumption of eggs does not have a negative impact on cholesterol. In fact, recent studies have shown that regular consumption of two eggs per day does not affect a person’s lipid profile and may actually improve it.
• Eggs are one of the only foods that contain naturally occurring vitamin D.
• Eggs promote healthy hair and nails because of their high sulphur content and wide array of vitamins and minerals. Many people find their hair growing faster after adding eggs to their diet, especially if they were previously deficient in foods containing sulphur or B12.
I have been experimenting with wheat-free quiches and also enjoy Omelette  with veggies or salad . How do you enjoy your egg?

Feature Article - Be Safe Naturally
This post has been inspired by experiences shared by several clients recently. I hope the information I am about to share helps keep you safe when you start to explore the world of natural healing.

No one person has all the answers or solutions. My very best teachers and mentors have always been the very humble souls who are very clear that they don’t know everything, but are willing to share their experiences. Only you can really know your own body, only you have to face your daily challenges and feelings. At the end of the day it is your body and only you can make decisions. Listen to others and see if it makes sense, but be wary if there is no room for an individual approach. Bottom line you will know instantly if the advice is coming from a place of genuinely wanting to help YOU.

There are times when the answer we need to hear is not the same as what we want to hear. As a practitioner this is the hardest part of my job, but I also know that false expectations disempower everyone involved.

More is not always better in natural healing. This applies as much to body/energy treatments as it does to herbs and supplements. Healing treatments should encourage deep relaxation and encourage the body to heal itself. Naturally there has to be enough energy reserves for the body to do this. This is why I often suggest short frequent treatments rather than a long treatment – this allows the body to gently rebuild reserves of energy. In my experience true healing treatments need precision and awareness of what is happening during the treatment. This is why I sometimes cut short a treatment or adapt it in some way – my ability to read your energy field communicates what I need to do. So even if I decide what I would like to do, if I receive a signal from your body that this is not going to be beneficial I will adapt. This explains why generally treatments get better the more you have, and why your therapist needs to get to know your unique body.

This I hope explains why I find it much easier not to talk during a treatment and why those watching me perform a treatment will sense that I am both ‘listening’ and concentrating while I work on and around your feet!

Likewise if you receive herbs from me I always caution you to start with a tiny dose and build up as you watch how your body reacts. Some of my very best results have come from using tiny drops of the right herb at the right time or even just suggesting a simple herb tea. Again the really great herbalists knew both their herbs and their clients very well – very different from grabbing a bottle of mass produced herb from the supermarket.

While I am not a nutritionist, I am sometimes alarmed at the full carrier bags of supplements that so many of you bring to show me. There is a place for supplements and again the right supplement can make all the difference to your healing. But you need to know exactly why you are taking a supplement and if you even need it. Blood and hair analysis seems a useful way to determine if you are actually deficient. I am sharing ways with many of you how to start doing your own trials with products so you can decide if you should continue with them. Wanting to do what we can to make ourselves feel better is natural. But often times we buy into the magic pill quick fix sales, when the research actually shows that the biggest improvement to our health is through foods and mind set.

With the new legislation set to start removing many supplements, and those that are left likely to be lower doses and higher prices, we might need a different approach.
This is why I am sharing recipes each week with my clients so that they can truly enjoy their food as medicine.

Detox is always a popular word for either products or treatments. However while there are many products and treatments that can encourage toxins to move in our bodies you need to understand how this works before jumping in.
Detox puts a huge strain on the body, especially for those who are unwell or having to cope with high levels of stress. Even more energy is required from the body to detox. This is why once we provide our body with lots of great fuel and it feels better one of the first jobs it will do automatically is to start to clean house.
But the body need to build energy first before cleansing. Otherwise sometime down the road you will run into problems.
The liver and endocrine system become over worked or depleted during detox – leaving people wiped out and emotional.

BEFORE you even think about a detox you need to ensure ALL the elimination channels are working well or else your toxins will just be moved around the body and unable to exit. Lungs, kidney, colon and skin are the main elimination channels and all need to be in good order.
AFTER and during a detox it is very normal to have flu-like symptoms, headaches and to feel very tired. So you need to allow 48 hours of complete rest after a detox.

90% of the clients I see need to do quite a bit of work BEFORE we can even think about doing a detox, and then I much prefer a gentle approach that builds energy and vitality. A body in good health can detox very well naturally.

Kitchen medicine is something I am becoming more and more passionate about as I feel and sense the improvements in my life as I incorporate this into my daily home life.
Over the next 6 weeks my weekly email support for regular clients will be around sugar, cravings and candida. I have recipes to reduce cravings and candida and ways to enjoy a sweet dessert without sugar. I also have strategies and inspiring information we can all use to help us make the changes we know will help.

I have now completed my new welcome pack which shares how to enjoy a clean foundation food plan to get you started with tips and recipes - feedback from my clients has been wonderful! This is a FREE resource for all new and returning clients.

I will also make available my herbal cold and flu tinctures this autumn – I am only able to supply past and current clients due to new laws. I will provide a one page hand-out with each bottle of cold and flu tincture so you get the most help.
As I write this, my latest expanded cold and cough ebook is nearly complete to go with the workshop on Saturday. This will be available to buy after the workshop for clients only.

August 2011
I love my work and I am very grateful for the fact that I get to experience and see on an almost daily basis how energy and natural healing really change and enhance the lives of my clients. I am the first to admit that I don’t have all the answers and that I can’t provide quick fix answers.
I believe that healing and health are all part of a journey or process that in the end helps us to realise just how truly powerful we actually are. Our physical bodies are capable of great changes and for the most part we can influence many of these changes through our actions, thoughts and beliefs.

Our modern lives bring both great opportunities and great obstacles in all areas of life, but perhaps especially well-being and health.
With this in mind, I have created exciting new support options for regular, new and returning clients which will start from Monday September 19th.
Before I explain more don’t forget my final workshop of 2011;
Reminder - Upcoming Workshop on Coughs & Colds September 17th

New for September 2011
I have run 5 workshops this year which has been great fun and thank you to everyone who attended.
Over this year I have asked what areas you would like me to share more information, support and guidance. The answers have led me to make some exciting changes to my clinic starting on September 19th for those of you who are looking to get started with Natural Healing strategies that work.

Tasting of unusual recipes/foods – The workshops really showed me that getting to try and taste unusual recipes, drinks and food really helped many of you to move beyond ‘just reading about’ a food to actually having the confidence to use it at home. Result! So from September I will do my best to always have a free sample for you to sip, nibble or take home at your regular appointment.

More about meditation, energy, healing and spirit
I can’t claim to be any kind of an expert or teacher in these areas, rather a fellow student of 25 years! However for those that have been asking for more, I have decided to explore how we can do this. I just don’t have time to set up meditation groups, but I am happy to offer this kind of support within my current 30 or 60 minute 1 to 1 consultations. If you are interested please contact me.

Healthy Living System
Creating natural healing and health can be amazing and life-changing, even almost too simple, BUT most people do not find it EASY.
So I have put together a Healthy Living System pack that helps you create your own individual food plan – which I like to call The Clean Foundation. So many of us are confused by the conflicting advice from experts that I decided to design myself a system that was down-to-earth, simple and flexible to follow. The idea is that you can adapt this system in many ways, yet still keep your core foods healthy and supportive.
This pack is FREE to every client booking an appointment from September 2011 and will be a great tool you can use to get the most out of your time with me. During September I will be providing additional resources to help you all get the most out of this system.

On-going support
I have been listening as you share your biggest hurdles and challenges with natural healing and the truth is that most of us need more support than a healing treatment every 4 – 8 weeks. The feedback I get is that for a week or so after your treatment you are strong, but then the challenges of daily life get in the way and some of you feel you make little progress between treatments.

So, from October I will be providing weekly support around cravings, sugar addictions, your need for healthy desserts, and candida support along with recipes. I will also focus on motivation and inspiration as MIND SET is so important. All will be set out as friendly step-by-step challenges with plenty of options to suit your needs.

Continuous effort — not strength or intelligence — is the key to unlocking our potential.

Sugar and sweeteners – my big challenge

In my research for my last workshop about sugar I came across lots of new and old, but still true information on why we ALL need to become aware of our sugar intake. I freely admit that sugar is my personal big hurdle and this is why I have spent so much time finding solutions and support – so I can help myself as well as my clients!
Before you dismiss sugar, remember that all artificial sweeteners count as sugar, as does High Fructose Corn Syrup, honey, alcohol and many ‘healthy’ cereals and snack bars. Look at the labels on your daily food – you might be shocked how much ‘sugar’ you consume without realising.
A small amount of sugar a couple of times a month is not a problem.
What I learned is that each year we consume more sugar/sweeteners than the year before and the last 30 years or so the modern world is eating far too much.

 Top reasons why sugar is bad for us;
1. Rots your teeth
2. Raises your blood sugar level
3. Is addictive (almost as much as drugs)
4. Can create the urge to binge
5. Robs your body of minerals.
6. Robs you of energy
7. Can suppress your immune system
8. Causes blood sugar lows such as sadness, anxiety and depression
9. Promotes wrinkling and aging skin.
10. Contributes to; candida, osteoporosis, diabetes, heart problems, ulcers, gallstones, eczema, arthritis.

Join me this autumn as I share a ton of resources that I am excited to explore and use to help myself and my family reduce our sugar addiction.
